Dr. Kima Cargill

About this project

Dr. Kima Cargill is a Professor of Psychology at The University of Washington. Her groundbreaking book, The Psychology of Overeating (Bloomsbury Press) discusses how the food industry employs psychology to trick us into eating more and more - and why we let them. She also offers unique solutions to this problem, including limiting our exposure to advertising and thinking more criticaly about how big companies manipulate our desires to consume food. Food critic Marion Nestle has praised the book: "The ideas in this book should inspire readers to think of obesity in an entirely different way, more as the result of a consumerist society than of individual weakness." I worked with Kima to get local coverage in Seattle, along with an article published in the popular health blog, MindBodyGreen.
